About
The man who immortalized characters like Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, Teja & Hasmukhlal, Paresh Rawal is an actor par-excellence who has given us movies like Oh My God, Hera Pheri, Andaz Apna Apna and Awara Paagal Deewana.
After graduating from Bombay University, Paresh started his journey with Gujarati theater and later debuted with the movie Holi in the year 1984.
Baddie-turned-comedian, in the course of a career spanning over four decades, Paresh has essayed a diverse range of roles across various genres of cinema, and has been at ease comic roles as well as negative roles in movies such as Ram Lakhan, Auzaar & Sir for which he won a ‘Filmfare Award’ in 1993.
The late 90s saw some of his most memorable roles including that of Hasmukhlal in Judaai where he was seen sporting a question mark on his forehead, or in the National Award winning movie Tamanna where he played the role of a eunuch raising a young girl.
Paresh Rawal is famous for his epic one-liners, super comic timings, and excellent expressions. His perfect comic timing cracks us up every time he is on the screen. However, it was his portrayal of eccentric Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in Hera Pheri that cemented his position in the industry as one of the greatest comics in Bollywood.
His notable roles in the movies include Hulchul, Hungama, Chup Chup ke, Bhagam Bhag, Welcome, Atithi tum Kab Jaoge, Tiger Zinda Hai, Dear Father amongst others.
He became a member of the Lok Sabha from Ahmedabad in 2014 under Bharatiya Janata Party.
Paresh has also produced several Hindi soaps including Zee TV's Teen Bahuraaniyaan, Sahara One's Main Aisi Kyunn Hoon and Colors' Laagi Tujhse Lagan.

- Paresh won Filmfare ‘Best Villain Award’ for Sir in 1993.
- He won a National Film Award for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for Woh Chokri & Sir in 1994.
- Won Filmfare Award for ‘Best Comedian Award’ for Hera Pheri in 2001 and for Awara Paagal Deewana in 2003.
- Paresh received the ‘Padma Shri’ by the Government of India in 2014.
- He was appointed as a chairperson of the National School of Drama Society(NSD) in the year 2020 by Ex-President Ram Nath Kovind.
